The Hustler starred Paul Newman and Jackie Gleason and was nominated for a bunch of Academy Awards, including best film, best actor, best actress (Piper Laurie) and best supporting actor. The sequel, The Color of Money, was made 25 years later starring Paul Newman and Tom Cruise and people were delirious to see more of the story.
